Protection from Radiation

I would like to begin by extending my deepest sympathies to the people who have lost loved ones and property in the earthquakes and tsunami’s in Japan. I also send out heart-felt prayers for all the people in the middle east and northern Africa who have been affected by the popular uprisings for greater freedom from oppressive regimes. It is certainly a time for reflection and healing.

As you probably have heard, citizens around the globe are rushing to do what they are being told is best for themselves and their families now that the threat of nuclear radiation looms in our atmosphere. There have been strong arguments that the radiation will never reach the US or Europe, and just as powerful statements that of course it will affect us. Either way, potassium iodide pills are selling out throughout the world. These pills are believed to protect the thyroid, the most vulnerable organ in the body, from radiation.

Iodine is not produced in the body and must therefore come from other sources. It is essential to the thyroid in order to control the metabolic rate through the manufacture of thyroxine. Iodine regulates the effects of estrogen on breast tissue, is necessary for the normal development of a babies nervous system, is required for healthy connective tissue, and is important in the normal metabolism of cells throughout the body.
Our production of hormones in the thyroid depend on Iodine.

The reason there has been so much said about Iodine lately is that it is understood to be necessary to protect the thyroid against the radiation which could in our atmosphere, water and food for some time to come.

Body Balance is composed of Kelp, Irish Moss, Dulse that provides this Iodine naturally in a plant-based form. This is the form the body recognizes and therefore can utilize it. Natural Iodine from seaweed has the ability to protect the thyroid and build immunity.

Seaweed has an important role in the oceans around our planet as well as in our bodies. They purify and cleanse from harmful toxic substances. U.S. Atomic Energy Commission recommends that we consume two to three ounces of seaweed each week in order to protect ourselves from radiation poisoning.
