Pain Free Living

It is possible to enjoy pain free living. After experiencing months or even years of pain, my clients report they just deal with it.  Many who deal with pain on a daily basis simply do not believe there is anything they can do about it.  I am here to say there IS something that can be done about pain. Many things. How much have you tried?

Pain medication? Herbal remedies? Emotional pondering? Mental relaxation exercises? First thing needed is to figure out where the pain comes from.

Hear are questions to ask yourself, even if you think your pain comes from an external source (something other than you – which most people do)

1.  In what ways am I living the life I want to live?

2.  What is keeping me from experiencing a happier/healthier life?

3.  Who do I speak to about my life?

4.  What do I say to them?

5. What do I say to myself?

Now this is a starting point. Answer these questions with complete sincerity and see what comes up. Then continue to ask. Ask until new considerations come out. Get out of the old mind programming of what might have been considered answers.

Where is the finger pointing? Is it inside you or outside? Is there some thinking, some thought processes that might be shifted? Is there blame to the self or others? Can that be changed into solution oriented thought? How about action? Are you telling yourself action is needed and are you taking your own advice? What is the outcome? What are the blocks to moving out of old habits and into new thought patterns?

In consideration of all this, do you stop and ever get quiet? Do you allow yourself time to just empty your mind and your emotions and be still?
It is a powerful exercise. Begin by being still for 1 minute each day for a week. Then move into 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. It is an exercise that takes training of the mind. The mind will continually go into motion as it always has. It takes determination to say “shhhhh!”  Gently, but firmly the mind can be tamed.

In emptying the mind, first the will is employed, then the receptive, rounded opening to allow something different. It is a stance of allowing quiet. What results can be had from this? Plenty. The heart will open more and more. The mind will shift away from old ’stinking thinking.’

Replace old thinking with simple loving kindness. That’s about the most powerful way to be. Loving kindness to the self. Loving kindness to others. Loving kindness to the world.

This may seem too simple. Too easy. But what powerful results will come from this simple exercise. Give it a month. Write down any results that are realized. Then write it down. Share it here if you like, or keep it to yourself. Either way, you will be able to notice shifts occurring.

Pain? Pain Free Living is the goal. It begins with our thinking and feeling natures.
