Solutions

Solutions to catastrophic condition of our Gulf waters, solutions to our daily lives, solutions to the greater planetary questions all nag our psyches as we look for answers to pressing issues. Where do we go to find answers?

There is a place deep within that gives answers to all these dilemmas. Doing less instead of more sometimes gives solace. For example, instead of being reactionary, finding that calm place in our heart brings much greater results than anything we can do in the world. This is not to mean that nothing is to be done externally. Certainly being involved in expressing opposition to that which we find odious in the world is necessary. Being involved in our family, community and nation can be extremely beneficial to change.

The greater change must take place in our own lives. Using less – less plastic, less gas, less unnecessary consumer goods in general will help to tone down the excesses we all live with. Asking simple questions about ‘is this necessary’ instead of ‘is this something I just do for self-entertainment, or self-indulgence’ is a good beginning.

Do we really need bottled water or can we buy a simple filter and take it with us wherever we go in a container that doesn’t harm the environment. Can we use less packaging and do we buy items that are not sealed in multi-layers of plastic?

The food we eat really does define us. Whole-grain foods instead of processed foods are what our bodies will thrive on. Less dairy, less sugar, more greens, more fresh foods in general are a good rule to use when buying groceries. We already know this, but do we act on our knowledge?

Being more conscious in the world is an every minute choice. Stopping to ask ourselves what we are thinking, what we are feeling and what we are doing can being a whole chain of events to improve our lives and the lives of our fellow human beings. We know solutions to many of the problems in our lives. Do we have the strength of conviction to follow our hearts? Do we ask ourselves what are the choices?

Stopping throughout the day to take deep breaths and center ourselves becomes a practice that maintains sanity and peace. Taking time each day to reflect on our state of mind/heart becomes the norm. Another cup of coffee or a purified glass of water? A fresh fruit instead of that chocolate?
How willing are we to take the action necessary to sustain our Mother Earth throughout our day?

This is an inside job. It is what we are here to do. When we shift into a place of thinking about others and about our planet instead of our own personal desires brings natural solutions to any and all issues with which we are confronted. Sending loving Light from the heart to areas in distress starts a process of service to others.

When it comes to balance, we can find it right here inside. Balance in our lives creates balance in our families, balance in our communities, balance on our good Earth. Let’s join together and commit to these kinds of internal solutions – or ourselves, for others and for our future.
