After 30 years of listening to client’s stories about how they have kept themselves well or had to find remedies after getting sick, there are certain variable that consistently become apparent.
What I have learned is there is no one thing that everyone can take to prevent disease. Disease has a multiplicity of components, including genetic proclivities, self-talk, emotional components, and how we navigate in the world with our bodies. Then there is the whole spectrum of karmic forces which can be given credit or blame for our state of health.
Karmic forces are not what most people understand them to be. It’s not just about what you or I have done to bring on health challenges. There is group karma that includes national, planetary, extra-planetary and a whole host of divisions within each of these that can fill in the blue print of our lives.
So what is the best insurance available to achieve and maintain excellent health? Doctor who have had no nutritional training and don’t really believe that we are what we eat often take supplements just as an added insurance for themselves. Some recommend vitamins and minerals to their patients, others don’t dare because of the lack of evidence that they work.
When we read about studies that show inconclusive evidence for this or that nutritional product, it is interesting to dig deeper into the research. First of all, it is imperative to know who paid for the study, not just who conducted it. Then it’s important to know just who the participants were. Were they already at the Mayo Clinic in treatment for some chronic illness or were they healthy to begin with? Did they take good care of themselves before the study, or did they live in a mold-infested residence?
With all the variables abounding around how to take care of oneself, what is the best pro-active stance? Here is what experts continually say:
1. Maintain a positive attitude – observing, accepting and practicing loving kindness
2. Move the body to allow energy to flow and consistently breath deeply
3. Eat consciously remembering to include a variety of fresh, colorful uncooked vegetables or healthy drinks
4. Supplement your good diet with natural, plant-based, whole food, liquid nutrition
5. Do something for others that doesn’t necessarily benefit you to practice unconditional giving and compassionate living
Maintain a positive attitude – observing, accepting and practicing loving kindness
This requires vigilance. When we pay attention to our thoughts, our words and our actions, we begin to notice when we are not practicing an attitude of loving-kindness. With no judgment, we shift into a more compassionate way of being in the world. This is as simple as taking control of our mind.
Emotional observation is another key component to this practice. Mind and emotions are so interlaced, many cannot tell one from the other. In Greek, Kama is emotion and Manas is mind. We speak of Kama/Manas with the two as one, yet discrimination is possible when close attention is paid.
Move the body to allow energy to flow and consistently breath deeply
Movement provides an energy flow contributing to creating balance and harmony in the system. When Chi flows, vitality is present. With vitality comes all the components of good health.
Chose an enjoyable form of movement. Aerobics, Yoga, Pilates, Stretching, Tai Chi, other martial arts, walking, engaging in a favorite sport. Do something you enjoy so it is fun and not agonizing to do!
Massage and Acupuncture have kept millions of people healthy for thousands of years. When chi is stuck and will not move with our gentle reminders of movement and breath, we can let others that we trust who are clear and unobtrusive help us to move our energy through needles or touch.
Eat consciously remembering to include a variety of fresh, colorful uncooked vegetables or healthy drinks
There is growing evidence from a myriad of sources proving the fact that we are what we eat. Here I must say change doctors if yours is telling you that what you eat is not important. That would be your first clue that s/he hasn’t a clue about good health. It is shocking to realize how doctors really know very little about being healthy. They can treat you with pharmaceutical drugs when you get sick, but don’t pretend that they know anything about getting healthy or maintaining good health. Traditional Western doctors treat the symptoms with drugs.
Find a naturopathic or homeopathic practitioner or a good acupuncturist. These practitioners will have remedies that will treat the causes instead of the symptoms of disease and will do it with natural remedies.
No matter what you read, hear or learn about supplements, it is absolutely necessary to get whole-food, plant-based supplements into your body every day.
Supplement your good diet with natural, plant-based, whole food, liquid nutrition
The food we are offered contains very few minerals anymore because of the mineral depletion of our soils. If this is news to you, read more about it, but the fact remains that to give the body what it needs to achieve and maintain good health we need to supplement.
Throw your pills and capsules down the toilet. We need liquid, plant-based vitamins and particularly minerals that our body can recognize and absorb.
Life Force International has a product called Body Balance that provides all the plant-based vitamins, minerals and enzymes to digest them that the body needs. Go to best-nutrition.net to order two to four bottles of this product to take every month. This is essential to a strong mind, balanced emotions and a healthy body.
Do something for others that doesn’t necessarily benefit you to practice unconditional giving and compassionate living
Why do something for someone else who is not your significant other, daughter, son, mother, father, sister or brother? Because as we learn to give freely and not out of a sense of familial responsibility, a whole new mind-set is established within us.
When giving from the heart, a magnetic vibration is established that opens us to joy. With joy comes a strong mental, emotional and physical constitution that brings good health.
So how does one avoid the myriad of diseases that plague our society and achieve excellent health? It’s a process that takes consistent attention, but is well worth the effort. For physical ailments, use the emotional body to work with imbalances. For emotional difficulties, use the mind to overcome the biting feelings that work their way into the consciousness. For mental issues, again, use the next level or plane up – the Spiritual or Buddhic realm.
